Chakras are energy centers of the body. There are seven major Chakras of the body. From a scientific viewpoint—the chakras are located near the seven major nerve ganglia that emanate from the spinal column, where it is known that we have feeling and nerve impulses, which can be sent to the brain.
Our emotions reside in the energy centers that they are associated with. Imbalances can arise as a lack of the positive attributes or the over balance of them. There needs to be balance for true healing. We can learn to heal physical and emotional illnesses through the chakras. The energy of each chakra can be accessed and balanced through color, vibrational healing, flower essences, acupuncture, hands on therapies, releasing resentment and meditative exercises.
We are vibrational beings. Everything on Earth has a vibration, ranging from low to high. Love and hate are opposite forces of vibration. Love vibrates at a high level, whereas hate vibrates low. For example, negativity holds a very low vibration and our health will be adversely affected when we are around or embody negativity.
We resonate with similar energies of feelings and thoughts. We often attract those who vibrate at the same level as we do, but we can also be attracted to darker energies that we can get entangled in when we are not strong enough in our own light. It is critical to become more aware of what emotional state we create or environment we put ourselves in, as our emotions and our health are affected by the energy within us and around us. Our bodies are always working to come back to a balanced state.
How We Can Heal Through Our Chakras
• Red is the color of the first chakra and is also known as the Root Chakra. It is at the base of our spine or perineum. Its energy is associated with feeling our connection and security on this earth—survival, security, our body and anything tangible.
Challenging life circumstances that may arise are homelessness, a feeling of not belonging, body image issues, financial and emotional insecurity.
Diseases that can manifest from an imbalanced Root Chakra are gynecological concerns, genital diseases, anal and bladder prolapses.
Heal through grounding oneself and feeling a physical connection with the Earth. Walk barefooted in the grass. Do daily affirmations to affirm that you are worthy of love and belonging.
• Orange is the color of the second Chakra and is also known as the Sacral Chakra. It is at our lower abdomen, the womb and genitals. Its energy is associated with pleasure, sexuality, desire, passion, emotional balance and creative expression.
Challenging life circumstances that may arise are lack of desire and passion or excessive sexual desire and passion. Financial insecurity may arise from not connecting to and expressing our passion, but too much passion in finances can turn to greed. There may be an inability to control one’s emotional state.
Diseases that can manifest from an imbalanced Sacral Chakra are infertility, pregnancy concerns, lower digestive concerns, gynecological concerns and genital diseases.
Heal through expressing passion through creativity. Acupuncture, herbs and wearing orange can all help to bring balance.
• Yellow is the color of the third Chakra and is also known as our Solar Plexus. It is at our center above the navel. Its energy is associated with our will and personal power. It is where our purpose, self-esteem, and courage can be gathered.
Challenging life circumstances that may arise are lack of purpose, self-esteem, and courage or an arrogant ego when in excess. A person may also get stuck in the problem and worry unproductively, rather than connecting with their higher self or with others to find the solution.
Diseases that can manifest from an imbalanced Solar Plexus are stomach concerns, acid reflux and poor digestion.
Healing from breathing exercises will help to center oneself. Wearing yellow is helpful to bring balance.
Sunflower flower essence can be used to strengthen an ego to shine as it is meant to in a balanced manner.
• Green is the color of the fourth Chakra and is also known as our Heart Chakra. It is at the center of our chest. Its energy is associated with love and compassion.
Challenging life circumstances that may arise are relationship concerns based on a closed heart, but also from loving too much.
Diseases that can manifest from an imbalanced Heart Chakra are heart attack and other physical heart concerns, breast cancer and respiratory diseases.
Restore healing by releasing resentment to allow room for love, or develop clear boundaries to not give too much love. It is important to connect to and share our time with others who we feel safe with and can be trusted. Get a hug, give a hug and wear green.
• Blue is the color of the fifth Chakra and also known as our Throat Chakra. It is located in our throat. Its energy is associated with communication through sound, self-expression and creativity.
Challenging life circumstances that may arise are communication issues, speech impediments, and lack of confidence in speaking, plus excessive talking and screaming.
Diseases that can manifest from an imbalanced Throat Chakra are thyroid disorders, acid reflux, and oral cancer.
Stress from an unbalanced throat chakra can manifest as restriction in the throat and it can be helpful to take a conscious break, especially when stressed and breathe into the throat with a vision of relaxing and expanding. Take a few deep breaths inhaling to the count of four and exhaling to the count of six.
Heal an imbalanced Throat Chakra with vibrational healing through singing or humming, plus, writing and other forms of creative expression, such as drawing.
Wearing blue clothing or a necklace with blue stones can balance the throat chakra. Larch flower essence can be used for lack of confidence through self-expression.
• Indigo is the color of the sixth Chakra and is also known as our Third Eye Chakra. It is located between the eyebrows, where the pineal gland is. It is associated with intuition, psychic perception and our visual thinking. It is also the area where planning, judgment and decision-making happen.
Challenging life circumstances that may arise are confusion, poor judgment, mind chatter, brain flog, lack of visual creativity.
Diseases that can manifest from an imbalanced sixth Chakra are vision problems, headaches and mental illnesses/imbalances. Constant stress and living in survival mode will shift the focus away from this area.
Balanced health can be restored through quiet reflective time to bring clarity out of confusion. Meditation and walking through the forest or anywhere in nature can help bring balance to this Chakra.
• Violet to White is the color of the seventh Chakra and is also known as the Crown Chakra. It is at the top of our head. It is associated with our connection to something higher than us. It is our consciousness through awareness and thought.
Challenging life circumstances that may arise can be a feeling of a lack of connection with something higher than oneself, spiritual disconnection, pessimistic thinking, mind chatter and cloudy thinking.
Diseases that can manifest from an imbalanced Crown Chakra can be mental illnesses/imbalances, headaches and brain diseases.
Balanced health can be restored through meditation, being in nature and spiritual surrender.
•All Chakras will benefit from releasing resentment, plus using vibrational healing or color therapy through healing crystals, flowers or wearing the color.
There may be one chakra that can be strongly imbalanced, but it is important to learn to connect them all together for a more profound effect. We all have unique concerns that may require more work in a particular area, but we all can benefit from balance in all of the areas.
Healing on all Levels
True healing does not come out of hiding our painful emotions, but from acknowledging and transforming them for greater understanding and wisdom. It is wise to own our own power and reach out to find healing approaches that will heal all parts of our being. When we open up to the possibilities—doors will open and information will come. It starts with a mind-shift. Replace fear with faith and know that we have the human ability to heal on all levels.
We can look at what brings us joy in our life and what does not and why we hang on to things that do not fill us up with happiness. Somehow, these things feed some part of us, even if it is not good for us. When we step out of our comfort zones, the world can open up in ways that we never imagined.
Remember that there is always a shining light over our heads to help guide our way through challenging times. We are wise to embrace the knowing that no matter how deep our pain is there is always goodness that comes from the process.
